Yvonne worked in the church faithfully, but saw that it just wasn't reaching all the children in the community. She decided to have a Bible Club in her home in the late 60's early 70's. She did some research at the local Bible book store and found CEF literature. She was impressed with it and decided to use it. Later she learned that there were teacher training for CEF materials and started going to classes. But she actually started the clubs on her own following the directions in the material. At the bible club we would sing, have a bible lesson, mission story, and teach a Bible verse. Of course my sisters, Nancy, Becky and I were her helpers. My sister, Becky, had the job of inviting her classmates to the club. After school the bus would unload. Becky was a good recruiter. Nancy and I played the piano and told mission stories or whatever Mom needed us to do. A record of attendance and decisions was kept and is still on hand for review. After club we always served refreshments. Many children came to know the Lord at this club. Yvonne has heard from a few of those grown up kids in the past few years. They have told her that the club at her home is where they were saved and that even though they may not have gone to church regular, what they learned in the club has stuck with them. Many have become active in church and committed their lives to Christ since becoming adults as a result of the seeds planted in the Bible Club. This is the reward of faithful service.
Yvonne (Mom) has been instrumental is getting many new Bible clubs started in central Louisiana and has assisted many teams in getting ready for their mission trips providing literature and supplies as well as training.
Yvonne (Mom) and I went to Mexico in August 1998 and many times since then to evangelize the children as well as train new teachers how to be evangelist. Teacher training sessions with the assistance of missionaries were presented. The new teachers were then able to start their own Bible Clubs where many children heard the Gospel of Christ, many accepting him as their Savior. The Wordless Book was used to share the gospel. Bracelets and tracts using the wordless book colors were also used. This methods crosses language barriers and makes the gospel easy to understand. Yvonne (Mom) and I have taken on the task of training volunteers who want to learn the basics of leading children to C hrist. If you are interested see the "Teacher Training" page.

Yvonne's niece, Bet West, loved to work with children, too. Bet invited Yvonne to come and share a bible lesson and/or a mission story with her children's group at her church in Logansport, LA. The class and the church became financial sponsers of Yvonne's work with children. The children love to hear the stories and looked forward to Yvonne's visits.
